ONA Mental Health & Addictions invites Nation member Juanita Lindley to explore the topic of Syilx youth & family mental wellness by sharing her experiences both as a youth facing mental health & addictions concerns, and as a woman currently on her recovery journey. Juanita works in the field of mental health & addictions, with a particular focus on trauma and healing. She is a fierce advocate for her Nation’s people. These two half-days will offer a presentation by Juanita on the community-identified need to address youth anxiety, depression, substance misuse, and stressed/toxic family dynamics – this will be followed by a Q&A and discussion. The second day will be a space for registrants, ONA Mental Health, and Juanita to explore, brainstorm, and discuss practical approaches to mental health & addictions work for the Nation that are Syilx-informed and Syilx-focused.
Feb. 25th, 9:30am-12pm – Presentation by Juanita Lindley with Q&A/Discussion.
Feb. 26th, 9:30am-12pm – Collaborative Workshop to brainstorm practical and Syilx-focused ways to approach mental health & addictions work with youth & families.
